I spoke with him this am. Endorse and approve are pretty close enough, right? He did in fact say it was a great idea, citing improved oppo traffic and the like. I just wrote to make sure noone was going to be bent out of shape about a couple of oppo dudes running a page under a gawker property. I don't want the grey treatment :)

You know what, I haven't the faintest. I just wanted to be sure to on the up and up. Probably enforceable with regards to an established property. On the other hand who cares, I try and get a little bit of offline OPPO daily and noone has charged me yet

I doubt it is. I think Torch made the logo, but either he or one of the other editors gave us permission to use it (for stickers, I think).
